Dianne Merryl and nephew Justin give back to Children’s Bureau
As a real estate professional it is so important to me to give back to our community. The Berkshire Hathaway HomeServices newsletter this month featured a story about some of my charity work. It is my pleasure to share a post from the BHHS Blog below with you.
A story that really touched our hearts came from Dianne Merryl of our Encino office, who shared a story about her sister, Lisa, and her nephew, Justin. (BHHS Blog)
Lisa adopted Justin when he was just an infant through the county of Los Angeles. The adoption included a very intense training and certification process with the Children’s Bureau, an organization that Dianne says is “truly amazing.”
This year, the Encino office participated in a toy drive for the Children’s Bureau, collecting gifts and toys for parents who could not afford to buy them. Justin, now 7, and his aunt Dianne brought all of the donated toys to the bureau, including one that Justin himself picked out and bought using his own savings.
Several parents pick out toys to gift wrap for their children Justin with the toy that he donated, and his Aunt Dianne. “Justin has brought nothing but joy and love to my sister and our family,” Dianne said. “He is ‘that kid’ that all the other kids want to be like and hang out with. What makes this story so special is that Justin now has the opportunity to give back to the very place that gave him an opportunity for an incredible life.”
